It’s true!This has become a big problem for businesses with remote employees, employeeswho work from home or employees who use company technology outside of thebusiness walls (like at coffee shops or airports.

Hackers usepublic hot spots to circulate malware and steal data. Sometimes they even setup fake hot spots with the same name as a legitimate hot spot to trick usersinto connecting to their WiFi, which makes data theft even easier.

Here’s whatto do: Discourage employees from connecting to public WiFi (or don’t let themconnect company equipment to unsecured WiFi at all!) and make sure yourequipment has up-to-date software, malware protection, local firewalls, as wellas a VPN (virtual private network). The more layers of security, the better.
