Small brush fire extinguished in Hollywood Hills

Firefighters quickly extinguished a small brush fire Wednesday in the Hollywood Hills, and no structures were threatened.

The fire was reported at about 8:30 a.m. near the 3100 block of North Barham Boulevard, west of the Hollywood (101) Freeway, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

“The first arriving 30 LAFD ground personnel, aided by precise helicopter water drops, took just 30 minutes to access, confine and fully extinguish an approximately 50′ x 50′ fire in medium-to-heavy brush approximately 200′ up a steep hillside … near the Hollywood Bowl,” Humphrey said.

“Though there are winds in our region, they were not a factor at this fire,” Humphrey said. “The flames did not threaten or damage any structures at the Hollywood Bowl or any nearby homes.”

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
