Blocks from the Staples Center and serving up small plates and cocktails on tap, DTLA welcomes the Argentine-clad Barcito (takeover of former Choco Chicken space) which opened earlier this week. Have you ever strolled through the streets of Buenos Aires, where intimate hot spots tucked away in corners of gorgeous neighborhoods lure you in for a quick go-see and an Empanada? If you haven’t, Barcito will give you a taste of tango life: checkered flooring, worn in wood, vintage photos, charming lighting, and a mixture of high-top and sit-down dining options.
Barcito’s owner Andrea Borgen (she’s Argentinian, we hear) teamed up with Cafe Del Rey’s previous chef Chuck Abair to deliver a few goodies on the menu that we feverishly await to try: sphagetti a la sepia, choripan, langostinos. It all looks delicious, packaged nicely for our first visit.
