Duarte resident who need to get rid of bulky items, residential construction or demolition waste, electronic waste and old documents for shredding can take them a community cleanup event this weekend.
The city in partnership with Burrtec Waste Industries Inc. will host its bi-annual Duarte Community Clean-up, Shred & Compost event on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Civic Center parking lot, 1600 Huntington Drive. Burrtec will do the collecting.
“In addition to the clean-up and shredding services at the event, residents should bring the proper vehicle or storage container to handle their compost materials for disposal,” according to a city statement announcing the cleanup. Burrtec will provide shovels, and the city will provide oil containers and funnels for residents who would like to safely recycle used motor oil. Information on how to dispose of motor oil is on the city’s oil recycling webpage.
Tires, commercial waste and household hazardous waste will not be accepted.
Information on the proper disposal of household hazardous waste is on the Los Angeles County Public Works website.
Cleanup event participants must be Duarte residents, and waste from businesses will be accepted. “IDs will be checked,” officials said.
