Glendale Water and Power is hosting an informational community meeting regarding the city-owned Solar Development Program at the Glendale Sports Complex on Thursday at Sparr Heights Community Center from 6 to 8 p.m. This project includes the installation of carport solar canopies over parts of the Sports Complex parking lot slated to start in November 2024 and be completed by February 2025.
The estimated solar photovoltaic capacity of the proposed project at the Sports Complex is 1,343 kW, which is estimated to produce over 2 million kWh/year of clean solar energy. That is equivalent to removing 363 gasoline powered cars off the road annually. This project is one of many city-owned solar projects that will be completed in the next three years throughout Glendale.
More information on this project can be found on the dedicated project website at GlendaleCA.gov/SportsComplexSolar.
