

Amazon has finalized a deal to acquire MGM studios, and more than 4,000 film titles, Variety is reporting Thursday.
The $8.5 billion deal was first announced in May, the companies told Variety.
The deal includes more than 14,000 TV episodes, 180 Academy Award winning movies and 100 Emmy award winning shows. It will be added to the Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Studios collection.
MGM was founded in 1924 and created the James Bond, Pink Panther and Rocky franchises. The MGM film catalog includes “12 Angry Men,” “Basic Instinct,” “Creed,” “Legally Blonde,” “Moonstruck,” ” Poltergeist,” “Raging Bull,” “Robocop,” “Silence of the Lambs,” “Thelma & Louise,” “Tomb Raider” and “The Magnificent Seven.”
