Pasadena Water and Power hosting virtual community meeting on March 15

Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) will host a virtual community meeting on the Power Delivery Master Plan (PDMP) on Tuesday, March 15, at 5 p.m. via Zoom. 

The PDMP is a detailed strategic plan focused on addressing critical challenges, long-term strategies, and future guidance in order to maintain a safe, reliable and cost-effective power delivery system. The PDMP will serve as a guide over a 20-year period and will be reviewed every five years to ensure renewed focus and analysis.

In addition to other important goals, the PDMP will address:

• Future growth of Pasadena and the infrastructure necessary to support it;
• Consideration of newer customer options, such as solar, energy storage and electric vehicles;
• Newer utility technology, such as advanced metering and power system automation;
• Enhancements to the utility to provide continued reliable and quality power delivery;
• Economic planning to ensure PWP’s future is cost-effective and scalable; and
• Repairs and modifications, both immediate and over a long-term period of time.

PWP provides electricity to more than 65,000 customers within Pasadena. PWP delivers water to nearly 38,000 customers in Pasadena and adjacent communities in the San Gabriel Valley. 

As a community-owned utility, PWP is a not-for-profit public service owned and operated by the City of Pasadena for the benefit of its customers and the community. Its priorities are reliability, responsiveness to customers, reasonable rates and environmental stewardship.
