Metro train kills pedestrian; rail service temporarily halted

A pedestrian was hit by a Metro train and killed Tuesday in the Crenshaw area, prompting a stoppage in train service on part of the Metro E Line (Expo), authorities said.

The collision occurred about 4:50 a.m. at Exposition Boulevard and Seventh Avenue near the Crenshaw neighborhood, said Metro spokesman Jose Ubaldo.

Information on the identity of the fatally injured pedestrian was not immediately available.

Metro implemented a Bus Bridge, which is a bus shuttle service, for passengers to use during the disruption in service to be able to continue on to their destinations.

Expo train service is as follows until further notice:

Westbound trains are operating at from Seventh Metro to Western Station and reversing back to Seventh Metro;

Eastbound trains are operating from downtown Santa Monica to Crenshaw Station and reversing back to the downtown Santa Monica;

And the Bus Bridge is connecting passengers between Western and Crenshaw Stations in both directions.

Metro recommends considering adding extra time to your morning commute on the Expo Line or consider another transportation option Tuesday morning, Ubaldo said.
