The City of Pasadena is requesting that all outdoor dining restaurants along Colorado Blvd. must remove their outdoor dining amenities within their barrier enclosures by Tuesday, Dec. 14 to help the city prepare for the 133rd Tournament of Roses Parade.
Beginning on Wednesday, city staff will begin removing traffic control barriers along Colorado Boulevard in order to return public streets to normal operations for the staging of the parade.
Following the removal of the traffic control barriers, city departments will begin restriping parking stalls, performing maintenance and then proceeding with other regularly scheduled parade preparation work. The traffic control barriers will be reinstalled by Thursday, Jan. 6.
In addition to the removal of traffic control barriers, sidewalk dining along certain portions of the parade route will be suspended for two business days, starting on Dec. 31 at 8:00 a.m. through Jan. 2 at 8:00 a.m., according to the city.
The suspension of sidewalk dining applies to businesses that have outdoor dining — within sidewalks or parklets — along the parade route and adjacent cross streets, within one block of the route.
This is not uncommon practice within the city, however, as Pasadena annually suspends sidewalk dining to accommodate the influx of people in the city and spectators along the route during the parade’s festivities.
