

Police fatally shot a person armed with a knife in the Palms area of Los Angeles Wednesday, authorities said.
Officers were sent to the 3600 block of Keystone Avenue at about 5:50 a.m. on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
Arriving officers learned that a suspect armed with a knife was inside an apartment with family members, police said.
Officers entered the apartment, saw the suspect armed with a knife, and the shooting occurred, police said. The wounded person later died at a hospital. No officers or other people at the scene were injured.
Information was not immediately available on the identity or gender of the fatally wounded person. The circumstances of the shooting were under investigation.
