The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Friday for the sixth consecutive day, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.435, its highest amount since Oct. 23, 2012.
The average price has increased 2.4 cents over the past six days, including a half-cent Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It is 2.4 cents more than one week ago, 3.2 cents higher than one month ago and $1.235 greater than one year ago.
The Orange County average price rose for the sixth time in seven days, increasing a half-cent to $4.404, its highest amount since Oct. 23, 2012. It has risen 3.8 cents over the past seven days, including four-tenths of a cent Thursday.
The Orange County average price is 4 cents more than one month ago and $1.238 higher than one year ago.
“Gas prices have been rising slowly, yet persistently, for most of this year, driven primarily by rising oil prices, which are more than twice as high compared to this time last year, and growing global demand,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
The Los Angeles County average price has risen $1.203 since the start of the year. The Orange County average price has risen $1.196 since the start of the year.
