A man is in custody Friday in Pomona on charges of being in possession of a weapon and ammunition as a felon, authorities said.
Pomona resident Jorge Sandoval, 30, is a known felon and is prohibited from owning firearms, said a Pomona Police Department spokesman.
Members of the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force at 11:05 p.m. Thursday noticed a vehicle parked on the sidewalk in front of a business at 732 W. Holt Ave, police said.
The officers learned it was occupied by Sandoval, and when he stepped out of the vehicle they found he was carrying a loaded gun in the pocket of his shorts, according to police.
Sandoval was booked at the Pomona city jail for weapons violations.
Anyone with information regarding the arrest was asked to contact the Pomona Police Department at 909-620-2085.
