

Authorities Wednesday arrested a motorist who led them on a brief chase in the El Monte area.
The suspect was taken into custody shortly before 7 a.m. in the 2800 block of Musgrove Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. Reports from the scene said the man ran into a residence and a brief standoff ensued before his arrest.
The suspect was reportedly driving a Dodge Challenger, according to CBS Los Angeles. El Monte Police officers were seen responding to the scene of the standoff.
Officers had tried to stop the motorist for a traffic violation, but the vehicle kept going, the CHP reported.
The suspect’s name was not immediately available.
