‘A Quiet Place,’ ‘In The Heights’ top weekend box office

The suspense thriller “A Quiet Place Part II,” continued to silence the competition at the North American box office, earning another $12 million over the weekend to maintain the top spot, according to final figures released Monday.
The sequel starring Emily Blunt and directed by her husband, John Krasinski, has earned more than $109.3 million during its three weeks in theaters, according to box office tracker Comscore.
The film version of the musical “In the Heights” debuted in second place, earning $11.5 million. The film was released in theaters and on the HBO Max streaming service.
Another horror film, “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It,” a Warner Bros. horror film starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, came in third, grossing $10.3 million. The decidedly more family friendly sequel “Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway,” opened in fourth place with $10.1 million.
Disney’s “Cruella,” starring Emma Stone and Emma Thompson, earned $6.7 million in theaters over the weekend for the fifth spot. The movie is also available on Disney+.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases, as estimated by Comscore, were “Spirit Untamed” ($2.6 million); “The House Next Door: Meet The Blacks 2” ($1.01 million); “Wrath Of Man” ($672,661); “Queen Bees” ($375,038); and “Spiral” ($334,191).
