A 53-year-old man who was shot to death in Whittier was identified Wednesday by coroner’s officials.
The shooting was reported at 7:20 a.m. Saturday at a house at 12336 Pasadena St., according to Lt. S. Reed of the Whittier Police Department.
The victim, Domingo Delacruz, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers located a male subject that walked away from the immediate area of the decedent,” Officer Thomas Mattsson said. “He was detained by officers. A fight was observed in the street nearby. Officers detained both subjects involved in the fight.”
It was determined during a subsequent investigation that one or both of the men involved in the fight may have been connected to the shooting, Mattsson said.
All three men were taken to the Whittier Police Department, where they were arrested on suspicion of battery and resisting arrest, he said.
“Investigations Bureau was also contacted, in relation to the death investigation,” police said. “Several detectives responded to investigate further. At the moment, this is still an ongoing investigation.”
Whittier police urged anyone with information regarding the homicide to call them at 562-567-9200.
