The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Thursday sought the public’s assistance to identify the man who sexually assaulted a 79-year-old woman after breaking into her home in Hacienda Heights.
The man entered the woman’s home in the 1300 block of Kwis Avenue through a window between 2-5 a.m. Sunday and woke her from her sleep before physically and sexually assaulting her, according to Deputy Morgan Arteaga of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The man fled the scene and the woman informed a family member who called 9-1-1.
The woman was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries, Arteaga said.
The man was described as being between 19 and 25 years old, approximately 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing between 140 and 160 pounds.
He was also described as having short dark hair and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with unknown white letters printed on the front, blue jeans and a black cap.
Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau detectives advised residents within one mile of the residence on Kwis Avenue to check home security cameras for footage of any suspicious activity that may have occurred around the time of the assault.
Anyone with information about the assault was asked to contact the Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau at 877-710-5273 or specialvictimsbureau@lasd.org. Anonymous tips can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or submitted online at lacrimestoppers.org.
