A natural gas leak in Downey today prompted some evacuations while crews worked to make repairs, but no one was hurt.
The leak was reported about 10:30 a.m. near Rives Avenue and Stewart and Gray Road, according to the Downey Fire Department.
People were evacuated from about a 300-foot radius around the area where the leak was reported, and utility crews were sent to handle the problem, a process that was continuing about three hours afterward, the fire department reported.
