Young Pasadena Activists Protest U.S. Police Shootings

A relatively small but vocal group of 50 protesters started a peaceful march in Pasadena Thursday.

The march started at the memorial site where Anthony McClain was killed by Pasadena Police on Aug. 15, 2020.

Recent police shootings across the country and the deaths of Black men killed by Pasadena police over the past decade, and now the death of 13-year-old Adam Toledo in Chicago, has cemented the distrust in police in many community members.

One of the latest and most egregious incidents was the shooting of Daunte Wright by police in Brooklyn Center, a suburb of Minneapolis, Minn. A police officer allegedly mistook her service weapon for a Taser and ended Wright’s life with a single bullet fired at point-blank range. The cop, Kim Potter, has since resigned as has the chief of police. Potter has been charged with secondo-degree manslaughter.

Protesters peacefully marched on to voice their frustration through the streets of Pasadena into the early evening.
