At approximately 10 a.m. Friday, employees at Magic Wok, located at 1167 Huntington Drive in Duarte, were notified by a good Samaritan from City of Hope that their roof was on fire. The employees, who were initially unaware of the danger, quickly evacuated after they realized the smoke was entering the building through the vents near the roof. Los Angels County Fire quickly called for backup of a ladder truck to attack the fire from the roof.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies blocked off the immediate area to ensure everyone’s safety.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time; although, it may have been a grease fire in the food-prep area.
