A man was hospitalized after he was shot near a major intersection while running from a group of men who attempted to rob him Thursday night, Oct. 8, authorities said. Long Beach police were flagged down in the area of Third Street and Pine Avenue about 11:55 p.m., where they found a man with a gunshot wound to the lower body, police spokeswoman Allison Gallagher said. The man told officers the group of men approached him in the area of Seventh Street and Long Beach Boulevard, about a half-mile away, and one of them shot him as he ran away, Gallagher said. Paramedics treated him at the scene and took him to a hospital with a non-life threatening injury, she said. Officers went to the scene and found a bullet casing, but have not found any suspects related to the shooting.
