

Photo by Thomas R. Cordova. Kids interested in games, dance, art and more social interaction can hop on a new virtual after-school program starting next week, Long Beach officials announced. This free service, the Virtual Out-of-School program, is intended for youth ages 5 to 14 and will be available weekdays from 3 to 6 p.m., Oct. 19 through Dec. 18, offering home-based activities for children with live interaction with recreation staff, academic support, dance, art, trivia and much more. Two modules will be offered: one for elementary school-aged children and another for middle school-aged youth, ensuring that activities and peer engagement correspond with the participant’s current grade level. Registration for the program is required and will be available online or in person starting Thursday.
