As is the style in these times, giant events, like the Rose Parade, have been cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Thus, it was no surprise when the producers of the Doo Dah Parade, the Light Bringer Project, announced that the timeless and exceedingly eclectic parade had to follow the trend and go virtual.
In a pressrelease, organizer Patricia Hurley said: “Due to legitimate fears of the spreadof COVID-19, many, if not all, large-scale fall and holiday events have beencancelled. While organizers of the Pasadena Doo Dah Parade understand a liveevent is not possible, they’re ready [to] try something new. The offbeat andeccentric parade, annually held the weekend before Thanksgiving, will exist butin virtual space this year. The parade will take place on Sunday, Nov. 22, incyberspace.”
Tom Coston,of Light Bringer Project, says, “This becomes a great opportunity to timecapsule Doo Dah into the universe! It’s not just going to be pictures of peoplein funny hats, but what it will be is going to surprise us as much as you.Imagine ‘Housewives of…Moscow.’”
