A small group of Monrovia firefighters is currently inPennsylvania conducting the final inspection on a new KME ladder truck, according to Friday’s City Manager’s Update. This is the last step before thetruck is driven to California for equipment outfitting and personnel training.
The truck is referred to as a tractor drawn aerial (TDA), wherethe rear wheels are controlled by a firefighter steering from the rear of theapparatus. This configuration provides better maneuverability compared to thedepartment’s current truck. Storage capacity is also increased which allows fora better cache of tools.
