

To continue to follow the recommendation of the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), Arcadia Unified School District (AUSD) will extend district and campus closures. As of now, AUSD plans on reopening schools on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.
Earlierin the week, Governor Newsom projected that schools might not return until thesummer. While no definitive timelines have been set by the county or statebeyond May 5, AUSD continues to work on contingency plans for the possibilityof extended closures.
While campusesare closed, teachers and staff are still working remotely and providingoptional online opportunities for our students. Teachers and staff areproviding the following for students and families:
Allstandardized testing has been canceled for the remainder of the school year perstate and federal recommendations.
The Arcadia Board of Education passed an emergency resolution enabling Superintendent David Vannasdall to “take all appropriate action to respond to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic” without a prior board approval.
To continue to follow local and state guidelines, the board meetingon Tuesday, March 24, 2020, will be a virtual meeting. Information will beavailable on the AUSD website as soon as it is ready.
Nutrition Services is serving meals to students. Thecustodial staff has been essential in helping to provide proper sanitation forNutrition Services and maintaining safe and clean campuses district-wide.
Teachers are still working to support their students andcollaborating with each other and staff.
District departments like payroll services are still working.The superintendent’s executive team continues with daily meetings and continuesto participate in daily teleconferences with school district superintendentsfrom across L.A. County and education officials, monitoring local, state andnational press briefings to ensure proper adaptation of the latestrecommendations, guidelines, and orders.
