Volunteers Needed for Annual Homeless Count in Monrovia

TheCity of Monrovia, along with other cities in Los Angeles County, will onceagain participate in the Point-In-TimeHomeless Count, an annual eventcoordinated by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.

This year’s countis scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020. On that evening,volunteers will be surveying Monrovia, along with other areas of the SanGabriel Valley, to determine how many people in the area are homeless. The datacollected is used to better design programs and deploy resources to serve thehomeless population. 

On the eveningof Jan. 21 any individual interested in volunteering is asked to arrive atthe Monrovia Community Center (119 W. Palm Ave.) at 8 p.m. A volunteer trainingand orientation session will occur at that time, and representatives from theCity’s Community Services Department and Police Department will be on hand toaddress any questions or concerns. The actual count is expected to beginat 9 p.m.
