A 23-year-old man pleaded no contest Friday in the 2016 hit-and-run death of a motorcyclist in Pasadena, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Donte Antoine Fox of Pasadena entered the plea in case GA103792 to one felony count of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
He also admitted to an allegation that he fled the scene of the crime. He also admitted a prior strike conviction in a 2016 case in which he pleaded to first-degree residential burglary and was sentenced to two years in state prison.
Fox is expected to be sentenced to 17 years in state prison on Dec. 12 in Department B of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pasadena Branch.
Deputy District Attorney Ryan Erlich prosecuted the case.
On Oct. 6, 2016, Fox was driving a vehicle and crashed into motorcyclist Oscar Chavez, 60, the prosecutor said. The victim died at the scene and the defendant fled and remained at large until his arrest on June 21, 2018.
The case was investigated by the Pasadena Police Department.
