

Monrovia Fire and Rescue started its annualSpark of Love toy drive in conjunction with Small Business Saturday. Withtheir engine parked in front of Movie Studio Grill on Myrtle Avenue,firefighters accepted donations of gifts and “passed the boot” to collect fundsto purchase more toys. The majority of these donations will go toFoothill Unity Center’s clients.
According to Fire Chief Brad Dover this drivehas been going on for more than a decade. He explained that not only were thegifts sent to Unity Center, but also to other local charities and churches. “Wehave made certain that families impacted by fire receive a real Christmas” hesaid.
New toys and donations can be brought to eitherfire station: 141 E. Lemon (just east of Myrtle) or 2055 S. Myrtle Ave. (a longblock south of Duarte Road). Cash donations are always appreciated as thefirefighters love to shop for toys for the kids.
