Pasadena Police homicide detectives arrested a suspect in the Angeles Crest Highway murder investigation.
On Nov. 6, 2019 at about 1:13 a.m., witnesses reported a body on the side of the highway and called 9-1-1. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies, Los Angeles County Fire personnel, and Pasadena Police officers responded and initiated a homicide investigation. The decedent, now identified as 22-year-old Julio Robles-Castaneda of Pasadena, was found on a stretch of highway within the City of Pasadena’s jurisdiction. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office recovered the decedent and initiated a death investigation.
Pasadena homicide detectives diligently continued their investigation working tirelessly around the clock, conducting interviews, and developing suspect information.
On Nov. 7, 2019, at about noon, the United States Marshals – Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force located and apprehended 30-year-old Pasadena resident Daniel Cervantes, the person believed to be responsible for the murder, in the 1600 block of Brigden Road. Subsequently, Pasadena homicide detectives served a search warrant at a residence in the same area.
A motive for the murder remains under investigation. The murder was not random in nature. The investigation is on-going and there is no further information available at this time.
