In addition to that, the Board may consider combining Jackson Elementary and Franklin Elementary schools by reconfiguring grade levels at Franklin Elementary School to grades K-2 only and Jackson Elementary School to grades 3-5 only.
In an email sent Tuesday, Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) Interim Superintendent David Verdugo explained the reasoning behind the recommendations to close elementary schools in PUSD. “The recommendations are the result of a comprehensive review that began late last year to determine the number and location of schools that PUSD should operate in the long-term.” PUSD has struggled with lower enrollment rates and fiscal stability in the last few years.
