On Tuesday, May 14, at 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. the 2019 Top Students Awards honoring the “best of the best” will be presented at the African American Parent Council (AAPC) District Meeting. The event will be held at 351 S. Hudson Ave., Pasadena, in room 236. The Black History Living Museum Project is a celebration of historical significance, highlighting the success of individuals who have met their goals and dreams, and who demonstrate the “best” of people and the world.
The “Black History Living Museum” is a collection of visual displays where students dress as famous individuals while visitors walk around and tour exhibits illustrating the life of the person and/or group represented. When prompted, students will give a 30 second speech about their famous person.
The AAPC respects and embraces the diverse cultures of our communities, facilitates educational equity and improvements in academic outcomes, values varied forms of parent involvement to foster the healthy development of all students and provides the tools and skills necessary for families to access information to purposefully participate in a rapidly changing world.
