Pasadena City Councilmember Gene Masuda has officially filed a Candidate Intention Statement with the California Secretary of State for re-election to the Pasadena City Council representing District 4 (East Pasadena).

Councilmember Masuda was first elected in 2011 and was re-elected in 2015. He represents East Pasadena including the neighborhoods of Upper Hastings Ranch, Lower Hastings Ranch, Daisy-Villa, Eaton Blanche, East Eaton Wash, Eaton Canyon Wash, East Orange Grove, Fox Ridge/Canyon Close, Loma Vista, Sierra Madre Villa, and Victory Rose.

Masuda for City Council 2020 sent a press release to the media that read, in part:

“Gene is dedicated to maintaining the city’s fiscal discipline while protecting police and fire services. As a longtime neighborhood and quality of life advocate, Gene has a record of working to fight overdevelopment and traffic in order to maintain the character and beauty of residential neighborhoods. Gene is a leader in Pasadena’s open space movement, dedicated to preserving and protecting Pasadena’s natural open space.

“Councilmember Masuda successfully advocated for pension reforms and halting mansionization. Gene is a strong supporter of the PUSD and was a board member of and continues to support the Pasadena Educational Foundation, which raises millions of dollars for the PUSD.”
