Stroll and Dine at Pasadena’s Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden

On Saturday, April 6, from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., the Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden will be hosting their special A Taste of Japan event. Enjoy a unique and entertaining evening at the Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden in celebration of Japan’s rich culture of dining and drinking traditions. Stroll the garden sampling delicious treats from food and drink stations, listening to music and enjoying nature, art and conversation with friends old and new.

• On the menu for the evening:
• Okonomi-yaki (Japanese “pancakes”) provided by Otafuku Foods Inc.
• Organic Rice Balls made by Mickie Matsuzaki with Wholesome Essence Organic Rice, donated by Shumei of America
• Soba Salad, Chicken Katsu and Crab Croquettes from Delicatessen by Osawa
• Toki and other Whiskies by Beam Suntory
• Hakutsuru Premium “Ginjo” Sake, Sayuri Nigori Sake
• Shochu donated by Yatsushika Brewery of Kokonoe, Kusu in Kyushu
• Jizake (local sake)
• Iced and hot Japanese teas – both caffeinated and decaf brewed by our own licensed sencha expert Patti Harrison

Japanese art treasures and gift certificates for fun local services will be for sale in their ailent auction.

Their special guest from Japan, classical dancer Umekawa Ichinosuke, will perform a demonstration of classical dance in the garden. Their art space En Gallery will also be open for the evening, featuring an exhibition of tea ceramics and prints by local artist Julie Bagish, whose work has been profoundly inspired by Japanese art and culture.

Tickets to the event will be $60 each, including valet parking. Reservations can be made on the Programs and Reservations page of the website at japanesegardenpasadena.com/programs. All proceeds from the event will help support the garden and its cultural and educational programming.
