For hundreds of years, women in western civilizations endured the same fate as poor Rodney Dangerfield, they “didn’t get no respect.” Yes, it took 135 years of rejection here in the United States before women finally gained the right to vote.
And only recently have “civilized” nations begun to display with pride their women who have earned responsible positions in government, academia, science, and business professions.
We should have long ago abandoned our macho patriarchal system of placing men above women and realized furthermore that women, by virtue of their nurturing makeup and serious responsibilities, are also admirably suited to lead nations.
There surely must be more than a few women in our midst who are eminently qualified to deserve the title, “Madame President.”
