Due to inclement weather, the City of Monrovia has canceled the annual tree lighting and holiday parade which was originally scheduled for tonight, Dec. 6. According to the cancelation noticed issued by the city, “The forecast calls for heavy rain mid-day through the afternoon which would create safety concerns related to the event set up. In addition, this evening does call for a chance of showers.”
However, it’s not all doom and gloom. The city will host a special community tree lighting at Library Park on Dec. 12 from 4 – 6 p.m. In addition to the tree lighting there will also be a dignitary reception, holiday sounds and crafts. The parade grand marshal, Monrovia Area Partnership (MAP), will be recognized and celebrated at this event.
