Illustrated lecture with the curators of “Something Revealed”
Join Maurine St. Gaudens and Joseph Morsman, co-curators of “Something Revealed; California Women Artists Emerge, 1860 –1960,” along with colleague Maureen Siegel Sprowles as they present a PowerPoint presentation and share fascinating stories about many of the talented women represented in the fine art exhibition “Something Revealed,” which is currently on view at Pasadena Museum of History (PMH). The presentation will take place on Nov. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at The Shakespeare Club (171 S. Grand Ave.) in Pasadena.
The exhibition, based in part on St. Gauden’s four volume book “Emerging from the Shadows: A Survey of Women Artists Working in California, 1860-1960” (Schiffer Publishing, 2016), offers a new appreciation of women artist who defied gender and expectations in an era of inequality. St. Gaudens – art historian, fine-art conservator, author and curator – has devoted years to working on the on-going project to gain recognition for these important artists.
Attendees to the program will have the opportunity to purchase copies of the four volume set of “Emerging from the Shadows” and will receive a special invitation to tour the exhibition.
Pre-paid reservations are required for this presentation. Tickets can be purchased online at powerfulwomen.bpt.me or by calling (800) 838-3006.
