Arcadia City Council’s Oct. 2 meeting was adjourned Tuesday night in honor of Cherry Liu, 50, who was murdered by her estranged husband Aug. 1, who then turned the gun on himself in the murder-suicide.
Liu was a long-time resident and volunteer for the City of Arcadia and frequently acted as an interpreter for city staff to help bridge the gap between cultures.
Moreover, Mayor Sho Tay pointed out that she was also a devoted mother and proud of her son’s accomplishments.
In an emotional tribute to Liu, Mayor Tay outlined her many accomplishments since joining Arcadia Chamber of Commerce in 1999 and more recently with Sierra Madre City Senior Commission.
Mayor Tay said she will be greatly missed and was thankful to have known such a bright woman who touched so many of us here in Arcadia.
