A Pasadena man was charged on Sept. 27 with killing his 67-year-old mother at the home they shared, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Alex Edward Evans faces one count of murder with an allegation of using a knife as a deadly and dangerous weapon.
Arraignment was scheduled that same day in Department D of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pasadena Branch.
On Sept. 24, officers responded to a home in the 1000 block of North Mentor Avenue and found the victim, identified in the criminal complaint as Katrina E, who died from multiple stab wounds, prosecutors said.
Evans faces 26 years to life in state prison if convicted as charged. Bail was set at more than $2 million.
Deputy District Attorney Lindley Heher is the assigned prosecutor. The case remains under investigation by the Pasadena Police Department.
