After consulting with Mr. Baker
By Staff
There have been some discussions regarding the wording on the proposed Old Town Logo. Initially, “Founded 1887” was inscribed on the Old Town Logo, which is accurate if referencing the formal incorporation date for Monrovia. However, the community was initially established in 1886.
That discrepancy resulted in a discussion with the City Historian Steve Baker. Based on that consultation it was determined that the wording for the new Old Town Logo should be “Est. 1886.”
City staff then reviewed the issue with members of the Monrovia Old Town Advisory Board, who supported the change. Based on that direction, city staff is now making plans to finalize the new Old Town Monrovia logo for use in upcoming marketing efforts.
