How uplifting it is to read Esma Ali’s words of praise for Monrovia’s police officers in handling what could have been a humiliating incident for her – and which, if someone else had been in her place, could have escalated into a high profile lawsuit.
In my opinion, Esma is an architect not of ugly walls that separate us, but of beautiful bridges that unite us.
She’s not only an architect of peace and a guide towards goodwill, but also a consummate teacher of ethics. If ever I find myself in a dilemma such as hers, I hope I can follow her example.
