City staff confirms it will close at the end of September
By Staff
Based on discussions with Santa Anita Family Services (SAFS) representatives this past week, city staff has confirmed that the service provider will be closing at the end of September. From the information provided to city staff, it appears that a non-profit entity called Human Services Association will be taking over the senior services contracts currently being administered by SAFS. However, it is unclear what else will be transitioning as SAFS works to close their doors. It appears that SAFS is trying to ensure that Human Services Association takes over all of the current services being provided by SAFS, but those details are still being worked out.
According to information found on their website, it appears that Human Services Association is “a private nonprofit agency whose principal mission is to enhance the cultural, ethical, and social consciousness of underprivileged children, adults, senior citizens, and families through staff leadership.” The agency was founded in Bell Gardens in 1940, and additional information on Human Services Association can be found on their website.
City staff will continue monitoring this situation and will share any additional details as they become available.
