As the summer temperatures continue to rise throughout Southern California, people will continue to flock to the beaches and pools. However, the Arcadia boys’ water polo team is ahead of the game as the Apaches already have been training in preparation for the 2018 season.

With CIF shaking up the divisions every year, Arcadia has moved up from Division 6 to Division 4 within the past two seasons.

The Apaches fared relatively well last year in Division 5 as they finished high enough in the Pacific League standings to qualify for playoffs. Unfortunately, Alta Loma was able to get the best of Arcadia in the first round.

Despite another division promotion and tougher schedule, fourth-year Head Coach Janice Clark and her squad are eager to climb the rankings and put Arcadia water polo on the map.

“We are going to be an underdog in Division 4 based on the power rankings, but we are excited to see what we can do in the division,” Clark said. “All of kids on our team are coming in with club experience and have worked hard during the summer so right now we’re the process of putting those pieces together and developing that team cohesion.”

Arcadia will kick off its season with a road game against none other than Alta Loma on Aug. 23.
