As you may recall, back in June 2018, the city submitted an award application to the California Preservation Foundation for the work that the city coordinated in rehabilitating the Historic Santa Fe Depot. The California Preservation Awards showcases the best in historic preservation and was established to recognize achievements in architecture, history, design, and engineering.
City Manager Oliver Chi recently said, “I am so delighted to be able to share that … we were notified that our project was selected to receive a 2018 Preservation Design Award in the Rehabilitation category! Monrovia will be presented with the award at the California Preservation Awards gala event, which is set to be held on Friday, Oct. 19 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles! We will be certain to share additional information about the event as soon as those details become available!”
