The Monrovia boys soccer season has come to an end. With a trip to the CIF Southern Section Division 5 Quarterfinals on the line, the Wildcats came up just short.
With the score tied at zero eight minutes into the 2nd half, Ethan Burkel of Oak Hills High School scored the lone goal of the game to defeat Monrovia.
The Wildcats played a defensive game, cautious with their attack and quick to clear the ball and retreat. The strategy worked, keeping MHS in the game the entire way, but they were never able to break through themselves, and when Burkel put Oak Hills on top, there was no answer for the Wildcats. The game finished 1-0, and Monrovia’s season ended in disappointment.
The Wildcats finished with a 17-7-3, 9-1 in Rio Hondo League play, good enough to bring home the league crown.
