Monrovia’s National Night Out Celebration Forced Indoors

Unexpected thundershowers on Tuesday put a damper on the National Night Out celebration and forced Monrovia Police to move the celebration inside the Community center.  The hot muggy, weather did not dim the enthusiasm of the crowd. 

Perhaps it was the lure of air conditioning that brought out so many Monrovians to the celebration, but as Community Services Commissioner Genia Mills noted “It is a good problem when your largest problem is having to put up more tables to accommodate the everyone.”

Several hundred residents dined on hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and soft drinks while chatting with several of Monrovia’s finest.  There were displays from the police chaplains, the special enforcement team and the detective bureau as well as the city’s Code Enforcement Officers and the Monrovia Area Partnership.

And to top it all off, there were even door prizes…and that lovely air conditioning.
