Detectives Release Composite Sketch of Suspect Wanted in Connection with Monrovia Shooting

Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal shooting in Monrovia. A composite drawing of the suspect has been released, and detectives are asking the public for any information to help identify the suspect. Two males were shot during the incident in Monrovia, and the mother of the deceased victim made a public plea for witnesses with information to step forward.
Oscar Garcia, a male juvenile and a female juvenile were in in the garage of a home, located in the 100 block of West Cypress Avenue, Monrovia. Shortly before midnight on Saturday, April 22, 2017, an unknown male approached the door and fired rounds into the garage from a handgun. Oscar and the male juvenile were struck in the torso; the female was not injured. The male juvenile was transported to a local hospital for treatment, and Oscar was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 18 years old.

Captain Christopher Bergner, Lieutenant Joe Mendoza and investigating detectives, Homicide Bureau, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department; Captain Alan Sanvictores and Captain Nels Ortlund, Monrovia Police Department; and family members of the deceased victim were in attendance at the press conference Thursday afternoon.
