The annual May luncheon of the Woman’s Civic League is devoted to honoring young women from PUSD Middle Schools for significant improvement in their grades, despite dealing with physical and/or environmental problems. Learning of their efforts to overcome various obstacles is always inspiring. The League by acknowledging these young women, hopefully, makes them feel valued and inspires them to continue the hard work needed to achieve their life goals. Thanks goes out to League President, Lisa Fowler, and League members, Anna Vickson, Eddie Newman, and Maria Cacarnakis for making this event a huge success. Besides a Certificate of Achievement, each girl received a $100 Gift Certificate from Target, and League member Joanie Smith created charming centerpieces at each table consisting of a gift basket loaded with goodies and a colorful beach towel for each of the middle school girls to take home.
