Gathering people across diverse understandings of identity
Level Ground, a Pasadena-based, arts nonprofit, is hosting its 4th Annual Film & Arts Festival from April 4 to 8 in Pasadena’s historic Playhouse District. The festival partners with award-winning artists to explore the complexities of faith, gender, and sexuality.
Using art to inspire empathy, Level Ground is making it possible to overcome the hurdles that our differences often cause. Festival highlights include queer, Christian, and southern singer-songwriter Julien Baker; an award-winning 2017 Sundance film screening that challenges our conception of what’s normal; a live podcast recording of ‘With Friends Like These’ hosted by Ana Marie Cox, a comedy show with headliner Rhea Butcher, and trans-artists and Lambda Literary Finalists Chase Joynt and Vivek Shraya exploring race, gender, and transition.
Festival partners include ONE Archives, Junior High, Cuties, Skylight Books, and several local churches. The public is invited to join the festival by purchasing festival tickets or passes ($5 to $50, with some free events). Learn more and purchase tickets at http://onlevelground.org/pasadena.
Level Ground Festival is located at 600 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena.
Level Ground is a community that gathers people across their diverse understandings and disagreements about identity. We partner with artists to explore the complexities of faith, gender, and sexuality. Our hope is to inspire empathy to overcome the hurdles that our differences often cause.
