With this year’s Presidential contest behind us, here at the City, Monrovia is getting ready to focus on the next election… which would be Monrovia’s 2017 General Municipal Election April 11, 2017. To that end, Monrovia city staff is planning to bring an item before the City Council on the Nov. 15 meeting to call for the next citywide election to take place on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
Given election related schedules, the nomination period for those wishing to run for the position of Mayor, City Council, City Clerk, or City Treasurer will be as follows:
The Nomination Period will open on Dec. 19 and will close on Jan. 13, 2017. However, if an incumbent does not file to run, the nomination period will be extended to Jan. 18, 2017.
Also, the city is coordinating a process to host a pre-nomination informational meeting for all prospective candidates in mid-December 2016.
