Beach Goth was wild. The annual Halloween-themed festival, put on by The Growlers at The Observatory in Santa Ana, took place this weekend and while practically everything that could go wrong went wrong (IE. Location changes, the rain, overcrowding, etc.) we decided to zone into what really matters: the beauty of rain in California, because we are in a drought and we need it.
SoCal doesn’t get to process the term ‘Rain or Shine’ frequently, as the weather often sticks to the latter and when it decides to rain people either frown at the sky or jump into puddles. Nevertheless, the Beach Goth experience was a memorable one, bringing out amazing artists such as TLC, Patti Smith, and Bon Iver on Saturday while attendees shimmied in the rain to Gucci Mane, Future Islands and The Growlers on Sunday. Peep the pros and cons of the weekend below.
Pros
Catching Bon Iver perform before anyone else in LA.
Getting your Beer Turned into a Michelada for Free.
Dancing in the Rain.
Being Carefree on Saturday.
Cons
Grimes Cancelling Due to Wet Equipment.
The Impromptu River.
Indoor Stages Being Overcapacity the Entire Time/ Missing The Drums
Trash Bags Not Being Free ($1 a pop folks!) and Having to Wear Them on Sunday.
Other Happenings:
Eric Andre posed with Jessica of Jessica and the Deltas. Shows mangina IRL.
King Krule released a new song, does this mean there’s a new album coming? Fingers crossed. (Via Pitchfork)
Chilli of TLC pulled a Pharrell, proved that she is also ageless.
Catch ya’ll next year.
