On Saturday, Sept. 24, Community Health Alliance of Pasadena (ChapCare) Pediatrician Andrette Ward, M.D., was honored at the 9th Annual Pasadena Health Summit.

Hosted by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., this event has become an institution in the City of Pasadena, providing much-needed health and social services to the underserved in the community.

ChapCare supported this event by providing blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, oral health screenings, and health insurance screenings.

Dr. Ward was honored for her commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality medical care to children in the Pasadena community.

Dr. Ward is a board-certified pediatrician, with almost 20 years of experience practicing in both the primary care and hospital setting. She has practiced at ChapCare for the last six years, acting as a guiding force for our pediatric medical practice in the Pasadena area.

Dr. Ward came to ChapCare with a wealth of experience having previously worked at Eisner Pediatric and Family Medical Center, Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital, and Toni D. Johnson-Chavis and Associates.

“Dr. Ward has been an invaluable asset as ChapCare has built its pediatric medical practice in the City of Pasadena and in the San Gabriel Valley,” said Margaret B. Martinez, MPH, ChapCare’s CEO. “Due to the high quality of care provided by Dr. Ward and her staff, ChapCare’s pediatric medical practice has continued to grow, and now accounts for over 20 percent of our 15,000 patients that we treat annually.”

At ChapCare, Dr. Ward practices pediatrics full-time. However, she also maintains ties with other community health organizations to facilitate the translation of clinical research to her pediatric community. She is a member of a number of medical organizations and served on the board of the Association of Black Women Physicians.

Dr. Ward received a bachelor’s from Yale University in New Haven, Conn., where she was a charter member of the Xi Omicron chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Dr. Ward received her MD from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, and a master’s in health services research from UCLA.

“I am deeply honored to be bestowed with this award,” said Dr. Andrette Ward, ChapCare pediatrician, “While I do not practice medicine to receive awards, it is always nice to be recognized. I look forward to continuing to passionately practice pediatric medicine, and to having a positive impact on the health and wellness of the children in the communities we serve.”
